Agartala Sept 07: The celebration of Ganesh Puja is in full swing across the state, with its grandeur and enthusiasm.
Compared to previous years, lately, Ganesh Chaturthi festival has gained much popularity in Tripura especially in the state capital.
Several Clubs and organizations now celebrate the occasion with pomp and show.
Also, Lord Ganesh, the deity of wisdom, prosperity and good fortune is worshipped at a number of households, following all the important rituals.
Saturday, state BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Rajib Bhattacharjee inaugurated Ganesh Puja celebrations at Town Pratapgarh.
After offering prayers to the elephant-headed god, Bhattacharjee also took part in blanket and cloth distribution program where needy people, especially flood victims, were handed over necessary assistance.
Apart from several temples in the state capital, Lord Ganesh was also worshipped and welcomed by different Clubs in Agartala.
Talking to the reporters, the priest who performed the puja rituals for ‘Ganapati Samajik Sangstha’ said, “Lord Ganesha is worshipped as the remover of obstacles and the god who is invoked before any other deity in Hindu rituals”.
The key rituals include, “Sthapana, where beautifully crafted idols of Lord Ganesha are installed in homes and public places. This is followed by the Ganapati Puja, performed during the Madhyahna period. The rituals include the Shodashopachara Puja, a detailed 16-step worship that involves offering flowers, sweets, and prayers to the deity”.
“The festival concludes with Ganesh Visarjan, where the idols are taken in a grand procession and immersed in a water body. This act symbolises the cycle of creation and dissolution, reminding devotees of the impermanence of life”, he said.
Modak, a sweet dumpling, is the most popular offering for Lord Ganesha, he added.
Meanwhile, on the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi, a health camp was organized under the initiative of Khayerpur Mandal.
