Agartala Jan 08: In a press conference held at the Pradesh BJP headquarters on Wednesday, Pradesh Janjati leader and nominated member of district council Bidyut Debbarma sharply criticized Left tribal wing, Gana Mukti Parishad’s (GMP) ‘Raj Bhavan Abhiyan’, scheduled for January 11, next.
Debbarma labelled the drive as "useless" and questioned its purpose and effectiveness.
Addressing the press Bidyut Debbarma refuted the CPM's assertions regarding the lack of development in the Autonomous District Council (ADC) areas.
He challenged the CPM to specify the areas where they believe development has not occurred, stating that such claims are baseless and need to be substantiated with concrete evidence.
Speaking about the ADC Village Committee elections, Debbarma highlighted the issues related to the registration of rehabilitated Reang people in the voter list.
He acknowledged that there are several problems concerning the inclusion of names of people belonging to the Reang community in the voter list.
However, he assured that these issues would be resolved promptly, paving the way for the elections to be conducted smoothly.
Debbarma claimed that significant development has taken place in the ADC areas under the current administration.
He challenged the Left to provide specific examples of where they believe development is lacking, asserting that the BJP-led government has made substantial progress in improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and other essential services in the tribal regions.
