Govt bans illegal slaughter of animals ahead of Eid-Ul-Adha

Agartala, July 07: Ahead of the celebration of Eid-Ul-Adha – the festival of sacrifice, the Tripura government asked district administrations and the state police to check illegal butchering of cows, camels and other animals across the state.
The letter of the Office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Sonamura, Sephaijala district issued on July 4 last, directed the cops, department of Animal Resource Development and Agriculture department to initiate legal action against anyone found violating the rules laid down by the Union government for transportation and slaughtering of animals.
Earlier, previous month, the director of animal resources development department, DK Chakma in his letter to the District Magistrates and cops asked the concerned authorities of the districts to take necessary actions against the offenders of illegal killing/sacrifice of cows/calves/camels and other animals on the occasion of Bakrid-2022.
Amid the directives of the government, preparations are going in full swing for Eid-Ul-Adha at Boxanagar market in Sonamura sub-division, where a bee-storm gathering of people mainly belonging to the Muslim community could be witnessed as a large number of cows were brought to the market for sale ahead of the Bakrid celebration.
According to the input of the correspondent of the Sonamura sub-division, elaborate arrangements were made in Boxanagar market on Thursday centering the selling and buying of cows, which are to be slaughtered to mark the celebration of Bakrid.
