Govt. delays disbursement of Financial Support for Minority Students; NSUI places Deputation to the Director, Minority Welfare

Agartala Oct 01: Tripura Pradesh NSUI on Tuesday placed a deputation to the Director, Minority Welfare Department demanding immediate release of the entire financial assistance meant for education of the students belonging to minority communities.
The delegation highlighted that for the academic year 2023-2024, minority students enrolled in professional courses such as B.Ed, D.El.Ed, nursing among others in different states have not had their fees settled.
“A large number of students belonging to various Religious Minority Communities who submitted their applications for financial support from the State government for pursuing various courses. But many of them have not received the complete instalment from the government which is severely affecting their education”, said Amir Hossain, Student leader.
The NSUI leaders added, “Few have got smaller amounts but maximum have not got their first instalment. For two years B.Ed. courses, Rs 90 thousand per year and in 2-year Rs 1.80 lac was supposed to be paid by the Govt. But the maximum students have not received the financial support who are now stuck in the middle”.
Following a meeting with the Director, a deadline of seven days has been set to resolve the issue.
“If no solution is reached within this period, a larger movement will be organized in the coming days”, said Youth leader Md. Sahajan Islam.
