House sees chaos over congratulatory motion thanking PM Modi : CPM, Cong stage walk out

Agartala, Sep 05: Tripura Legislative Assembly witnessed another round of chaos on Thursday, the second day of the on-going Monsoon Session, as the Opposition CPM and Congress walked out of the House protesting the adoption of a congratulatory motion thanking Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The motion was moved by Assembly Speaker Biswa Bandhu Sen in the reference period congratulating Narendra Modi for his straight third term as Prime Minister as well as the newly-elected members of Lok Sabha and the people who participated in the 18th Lok Sabha polls.
When the Speaker started to read out the motion, Leader of Opposition Jitendra Chaudhury raised an objection and was supported by other CPM and Congress MLAs.
Leader of the CPM legislature party- Chaudhury such a motion was supposed to be decided in the Business Advisory Committee meeting and the draft of the motion should have been finalized.
As the argument reached its peak, the CPM and Congress MLAs jointly came down to the well and finally they staged a walk out before the Speaker completed reading the motion. It was then adopted by the House.
The motion said that since 2014, the NDA Government's commitment to public welfare, innovation, and national unity has been consistently evident and the entire country is reaping the benefits.
Addressing the House, Parliamentary Affairs minister Ratanlal Nath stated that the motion would be forwarded to the central government.
