Hundreds bid adieu as body of 2 Tripura army men martyred in Manipur landslide reaches Agartala

Agartala, July 03: Over hundreds of people gathered at Agartala MBB airport on Sunday to bid adieu, as the bodies of two army men of the state martyred in Manipur landslide reached the hometown.
Army men – Sanjay Debnath and Prasanta Kumar Deb – hailed from Sepahijala and West Tripura districts and were posted at the Territorial Army camp in Noney district of Manipur.
The mortal remains were airlifted by an army chopper on Sunday and brought to the state, where over hundreds of people bid adieu to them before they were taken to Assam Rifles sector headquarters of Agartala. After the wreath laying ceremony, the mortal remains were sent to their homes.
People in large turned up during the wreath laying ceremony and extended heartfelt condolences to the martyred jawans on Sunday.
Earlier, on Saturday the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, including the former chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb and politicians of different political party paid condolences to the death of the army jawans of Tripura.
Both the soldiers were on duty in Manipur for the rescue operation of the civilians as a giant landslide has hit hard the state due to heavy downpour since Wednesday.
