Agartala, Sept 21: Barely 10 days left for the Bengali's biggest festival Durga Puja. The festive spirit is already in the air.
While the people, mostly youngsters, are going busy in picking up their favourite collection of dresses from the markets, the puja organizers in Agartala are also preparing in full swing with full enthusiasm to hit the best with attractive themes ranging from iconic temples to Burj Khalifa and Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav.
This year, full-scale celebrations will take place during the Durga Puja festival since the enthusiasm was missing for the last two years following Covid pandemic.
As the situation is visibly under control now, the big-budget puja organizers planned to leave no stone unturned to attract the visitors.
Iconic temple themes are going to dominate the Durga Puja this year in Agartala city as most of the major puja organizers picked up themes like Somnath Temple, Kedarnath Dham and Ayodhya Ram Mandir.
The Netaji Play Centre, one of the big-budget puja organizers in the city, is getting ready to enthrall the visitors wih the replica of Ayodhya Ram Mandir while Ramthakur Sangha is building the pandal depicting Somnath Temple.
Two renowned puja organizers-- Deshbandhu Chittaranjan Club and Pole Star Club are going with the themes of Burj Khalifa and Burj Al Arab respectively.
Oikatan Yuba Sanstha in Shantipara, popular for it lighting, is readying to greet the visitors with a special light and sound show. 'Eso Maa' is the theme this year while the pandal is being built depicting the Swaminarayan Mandir of Delhi.
Among the other major puja organizers, Shibnagar Modern Club is going with the theme of Kashi Vishwanath Temple while the replica of famous Meenakshi Temple is being set up at Bharatratna Sangha (Ushabazar).
This year, the Maha Sasti falls on October 1 and the Vijiya Dashami on October 5 according to the calendar.
To mark the celebration, Tripura government has announced 'Mayer Gomon', a programme based on immersion of idols, to be held on October 7 next.
As the celebration is likely to take place in full-scale, the administration is also gearing up its preparations for the security measures to ensure smooth conduct of Durga Puja. (with inputs from Agartalar Sera Pujo facebook page)
