Agartala, Jan 18: Amid the negligence role of the concerned administration, illegal filling of waterbody of the Udaipur Sukh Sagar reservoir near Fulkumari area and next to the Udaipur railway station goes rampant.

It was alleged that a section of officers and staff of the SDM office is indulged in the illegal filling of the water body to fuel the land mafias in their work. Lack of supervision from the end of the concerned administration has been leading the land mafias fill up a major portion of the Sukh Sagar water reservoir, allegedly under the supervision of a section of SDM office staff, who are well aware of the paper works.

The land mafias are buying the portion of Sukh Sagar wet lands from the owners at a very low cost to fill up their land illegally under the dark skies. The land mafias are allegedly accompanied by a section of SDM office staff to make the diversion of large portion of land into bastu by paying penalties to the government.

The land mafias are making a compete bule print of major portion of the Sukh Sagar water reservoir to make plots and sell them at high cost for building houses, which perhaps poses threat to the natural beauty of the Sukh Sagar and surrounding.

Presently, the Sukh Sagar reservoir, which is in the verge of destruction and loosing its beauty, is producing adequate quantity of fish of its different variety to meet the demands of the residence of Udaipur subdivision.

The residents of the Udaipur Fulkumari area has sought the intervention of the concerned administration to closely monitor the illegal filing of the waterbody and take necessary initiative to retain the beauty of the Sukh Sagar.
