Dharmanagar, Nov 10: A Russian-made 7.62mm automatic pistol, along with a magazine containing 10 rounds, was seized on Sunday from the residence of Raju Deb, a local resident of Dharmanagar. The weapon was recovered during a raid conducted by the Dharmanagar Police, leading to the immediate arrest of the accused, Raju Deb.

Acting on a tip-off, the Dharmanagar Police supervised by Additional Superintendent of Police (North District), Jeremia Darlong launched the operation at Deb's home in the early hours of Sunday. Upon conducting a thorough search of the premises, officers discovered the pistol hidden inside the house, along with the loaded magazine of ammunition.  

During initial questioning, Raju Deb reportedly confessed to having brought the pistol from Dimapur, though he has not yet revealed further details about the source of the weapon or his intentions. The police are continuing to probe his connections and the broader network involved in the illegal arms trade.
