Kailashahar, Feb 15: The Kailashahar Municipal Council has seized two vehicles engaged in unauthorized septic tank cleaning in urban and rural areas without proper permits or infrastructure on Friday.

According to Chairperson Chapala Rani Debroy, a group of youths from outside the state had been operating illegally for months, charging exorbitant fees ranging from Rs. 10,000 to Rs. 16,000 for incomplete cleaning. Locals accused both the municipality and the administration of negligence.

The disposal of human waste remains unclear, as the Sonamukhi Tertiary Center is yet to be fully operational, raising fears of indiscriminate dumping. Following multiple complaints, officials detained two vehicles and informed police and the sub-divisional administration for further action.
