Illegally stored Burmese betel nuts recovered by Police

Churaibari Sept 01: Acting on a tip-off, the police of Kathaltali outpost recovered huge amount of illegal Burmese betel nuts stored in a residence.
According to police sources, the illegally stored Burmese betel nuts weigh a total of 1530 kg that has a market value of Rs 6 lakh.
Reportedly, a group of illegal traders from Kumarghat continue to smuggle Burmese betel nuts by using the Dasharath Bridge in North Tripura’s Damcherra area.
Allegations have been raised against Tripura Police for playing a silent role against such illegal trade.
However, police failed to arrest any accused related to the incident.
