Agartala Aug 27: As the crisis continues across the state following the devastating flood, there is an increasing recognition of how multiple organizations including NGOs, and individuals have come forward in helping out the needy.
Praising such efforts, Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Mayor and MLA Dipak Majumder said, “The damage is huge and the government is doing everything that it can do to support the people. But at the same time, it is highly commendable how social organizations, NGOs, individuals have come up with help and are carrying out relief work in every possible way”.
In response to the ongoing flood crisis in the state, the Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS) has stepped up its efforts to provide relief to affected communities. With damages estimated at around Rs 15 thousand crores due to the floods, the state government’s resources alone are insufficient to address the situation.
Tuesday, the IRCS state branch distributed blankets to flood victims at the Jubak Sangha Club under Ward No. 33 of AMC in Bordowali area of the state capital.
Mayor Dipak Majumdar handed over blankets to the flood victims. Additionally, the IRCS organized a health camp to address immediate medical needs.
Abhijit Mallik, Treasurer of the Indian Red Cross Society Agartala Branch, along with other members of the organization and the club, were present during the relief efforts.
Mayor Majumdar expressed gratitude to the IRCS for their timely assistance and urged all citizens in the state to come forward and support the flood victims.
The collaborative efforts of organizations like the Indian Red Cross Society play a crucial role in mitigating the impact of natural disasters and providing essential aid to those affected, said Dipak Majumder.
