Agartala, Dec 03: To encourage people to work towards breaking down barriers and creating a society where everyone can live with dignity and equality, Tripura along with the rest of the world observed the international day of disabled on Sunday.

The Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder has inaugurated the main programme here at Agartala A.D Nagar Higher Secondary School ground. The programme was organised by the Social Welfare and Social Education department.

Addressing the gathering Mayor Dipak Majumder said that both the Central and the state government is working diligently to enhance the socio-economic status of the ‘Divyangans’. Series of schemes were launched for the ‘Divyangans’ including social pension, Deena Dayal Divyangan Rehabilitation scheme, scholarships, Assistance for Divyangans, ADIP Scheme, employment for persons with disabilities and many others.
