International Yoga Day observed in Tripura

Agartala Jun 21: Along with other parts of the country, the 8th International Day of Yoga was observed across Tripura on Tuesday. Youth Affairs and Sports Minister Sushanta Chowdhury inaugurated the state-level International Yoga Day celebration at Birendranagar Higher Secondary School in Jirania under West Tripura district.
In his inaugural speech, Chowdhury said, International Yoga Day is celebrated all over the world since June 21, 2015. There is no substitute for Yoga to keep the body healthy. He urged the students to keep themselves involved in Yoga.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha took part in Yoga Day celebration at the premises of Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhawan in Agartala. Former Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb also participated in the observance of International Day of Yoga.
In a facebook post, Deb wrote, “Yoga is a unique activity pertaining to our mental and physical well-being. I would call on people from all walks of life and all ages to practice Yoga”.
Yoga sessions were conducted in various places across the state. Apart from the Ministers and MLAs, many of the government officers and employees, security personnel and people of different walks of life practiced Yoga on this day.
