Irregularities: Case lodged against top brass of former TCA panel

Agartala, Feb 07: A case was filed against top brass of the previous panel of Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) on corruption charges on Wednesday.
The case lodged at Crime Branch Police Station (case no 1/2024 u/s 120(B)/409/420 IPC) named total 10 people and unknown others.
The 10 persons, who are facing the corruption charge, are former secretary Tapash Ghosh, former vice-president Timir Chanda, the then treasurer Joylal Das, executive engineer Tarun Kumar Das, assistant engineer Arunabha Nath, assistant engineer Rahad Sarkar, former member of TCA’s Apex Council Sumanta Deb Roy, zonal sales manager of M/s Signify Innovations India Ltd. Indranil Putatunda, M/s Signify Innovations India Ltd. of Kolkata and M/s Lighting Solution of Kolkata.
There are possibilities that the FIR named persons may face arrest in connection with the irregularities relating to Flood Light installation in the upcoming cricket stadium.
The TCA had been dogged by ugly controversies and groupisms for a long time and of late the squabble reached to a point of no return—ultimately the issue culminated in a criminal case against some of the top TCA leaders.
It was alleged in the case that accused persons dishonestly and fraudulently misappropriated huge amounts and cheated Tripura Cricket Association in execution of Design, Testing and Installation of LED lights (floodlights). This one project itself cost a loss of more than Rs.7 Crore to TCA which APs otherwise gained wrongfully.
It was that there were instances of several other financial irregularities detected in the course of enquiry carried out by the SIT on the instruction of the High Court of Tripura.
