Gandacherra, Sept 07: The villagers of Suryamani Para under Ganganagar RD Block alleged huge irregularity in construction of a CC road project and demanded an investigation.
The road is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs. 1.18 crore under the supervision of Mrinal Debbarma (Engineer).
The local villagers alleged that the engineer is getting involved in irregularities in the construction process. They said, despite the requirement to lay six inches of sand before pouring concrete, the engineer is ignoring it. As a result, cracks are appearing on one side of the road even before completion.
The villagers also raised questions on the thickness of the road and use of insufficient cement and sand in the construction.
As they informed the media, only 50 percent of the work has been completed over the past six months. The engineer is allegedly storing piles of stones and sand along the main road, disrupting vehicular movement and causing inconvenience to the people.
The villagers demanded a thorough investigation into the road project to ensure transparency.
Meanwhile, once a remote area- Ganganagar is going through several development projects in various fields with investment of crores of rupees. But, a few individuals and companies engaged in implementing the projects are allegedly getting involved in irregularities and misappropriating funds.
