The state government already achieved 53 percent target under Jal Jeevan Mission while the achievement would touch 60 percent in next 15 days, said DWS minister Sushanta Chowdhury.
Addressing a press conference he said, the total number of rural households in the state is 7,41,945 and the target is to ensure tap water supply to every household by December this year.
“Before launch of Jal Jeevan Mission in 2019, total 24,502 rural households (3.30 per cent) had tap water connections. Under the Jal Jeevan Mission, 3,66,233 households (49.36 per cent) have so far been provided free water connections. As of now, we have covered total 3,90,735 (52.66 per cent) households,” Chowdhury told the media.
Sharing more details on the achievements under the Jal Jeevan Mission, the DWS minister said, there are total 8,710 Habitations (Para) in rural parts of the state. Among them, 100 per cent coverage of FHTC 1238 has been ensured in 1238 habitations; 90-100 percent works have been completed in 610 habitations; 75-90 percent works completed in 1001 habitations, 50-75 per cent works completed in 1595 habitations, 25-50 percent works completed in 1510 habitations and 0-25 per cent works have been completed in 1380 habitations.
Besides, 1135 habitations are there where the works are in progress and the works are yet to start in 241 habitations, Chowdhury added.
He also shared the implementation status of the scheme in Gram Panchayat/ Village Council wise.
According to the DWS minister, there are total 1176 Panchayats and Village Councils. Among them, 100 per cent tap water connections have been provided in 29 GPs/VCs, 90-100 percent coverage in 62 GPs/VCs, 80-90 per cent coverage in 87 GPs/VCs, 70-80 per cent coverage in 110 GPs/VCs and 70 per cent coverage has been achieved in 888 GPs/VCs.
Besides, the works are in progress in 1140 GPs/VCs and the work is yet to start in 7 Gram Panchayats and Village Councils, he added.
Meanwhile, out of 4536 schools and 8932 Anganwadi Centres, 3447 schools (75.99 per cent) and 4821 (53.97 per cent) Anganwadi Centres have already been covered with piped water supply, the DWS minister said.
He also said, the centre has released Rs.166 crore for implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission in Tripura.
Secretary of DWs department Kiran Gitte and Engineer-in-Chief (DWS) Shyamlal Bhowmik were also present in the press conference.
