Agartala, Feb 26: The CPI(M) state secretary Jitendra Chaudhury, Sunday urged his party workers to refrain from violence after the March 2 poll counting and asked them to maintain peace across the state.
He said, “People of Tripura had not only voted for us based on our poll manifesto, but also they voted to restore peace and democracy in the state. So, we must ensure that we abide by the mandate of those people who were frustrated during the last five years.”
He however said, “It is the fact that our party workers were injured and attacked during the past five years, but we should not act to take revenge, rather there is a chance to lodge FIR against those who attacked us and that we can do after March 2.”
“It is our responsibility first and then the police that we maintain law and order and ensure peace after the poll counting on March 2,” he said.
