Agartala, Jan 06: The Ananganagar area under the 4-Barjala Assembly constituency, turned tense after a bomb attack on the residence of CPI(M) worker Tapan Shil on Saturday night. The incident occurred within the jurisdiction of the Airport Police Station, raising concerns about escalating violence in the area.
On Sunday, Tripura Assembly’s Opposition Leader and CPI(M) State Secretary, Jitendra Chowdhury visited the site, accompanied by local MLA Sudip Sarkar, CPI(M) Narsingarh Regional Secretary, Bikramjit Pal and other leaders.
Addressing the media at the site, Chowdhury criticized the ruling BJP, alleging their involvement in fostering fear to suppress dissent. Chowdhury strongly dismissed BJP leaders' claims that the explosion was merely fireworks, calling it a baseless justification to downplay the incident.
Chowdhury further accused the BJP of resorting to such tactics due to their dwindling support in the area. He also condemned the police for failing to maintain law and order, intensifying his criticism of their alleged bias.
Chowdhury clarified, “Our party never framed this as a political agenda. It is the BJP’s actions that have caused political tensions in this region.” The incident has heightened political unease in the area, with both parties trading accusations.
