Justice Sanjiv Khanna takes oath as CJI

New Delhi, Nov 11: Justice Sanjiv Khanna on Monday took oath as the 51st Chief Justice of India. He succeeds Justice D.Y. Chandrachud, who demitted office on Sunday.
President Droupadi Murmu administered the oath of office to Justice Khanna at a ceremony at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, several Union ministers, and judges of the Supreme Court were present among others.
Justice Khanna took the oath in English in the name of god.
Born on May 14, 1960, he will serve as the CJI for a little over six months and demit office on May 13, 2025, on attaining the age of 65 years.
Prime Minister Modi conveyed best wishes to Justice Khanna on taking oath as the CJI.
