Kailashahar Sep 27: Resentment among a section of residents of the Dhatuchhara under Kailashahar is brewing against the second Officer-in-charge (OC) of the Kailashahar Police Station. It was alleged the second OC is trying to create discord between the villagers of the Dhatuchhara where his sister lives and he has personal properties in the village.

The allegation against the second OC came to the fore after aggrieved villagers sent letters to Minister Tinku Roy who is a local MLA and to the Unakoti Police Superintendent Kanta Jangir detailing the ‘attempts’ of the accused officer in creating trouble among different indigenous communities living in the village.

It is learnt, the allegation is centred around the power supply which broke down on September 22 after a transformer in the village developed technical snags. The Power Distribution Company, Sai Computer informed the local people that the Transformer had to be changed – however, it would take time as they did not have any spare transformer, it would take time to replace the faulty one.

Meantime, the Sai Computer authority managed to repair the transformer temporarily and restored the power supply partially as the transformer could not tolerate full capacity ‘load’ – and incidentally, partial restoration of the power supply excluded most of the houses of a particular indigenous. The second OC is reportedly inciting the concerned community members citing discrimination.   

The villagers urged the Minister and the Unakoti Superintendent of Police to step in and prevent the creation of discord between communities.
