Agartala July 04: Tripura Legislative assembly speaker and Chairman of Fair Committee Ratan Chakraborty addressed the press on preparations of Kharchi Puja.

Visiting the spot of fair on Monday, Ratan Chakraborty inspected the ongoing preparations and discussed with the concerned authorities about the arrangements.

Addressing the press the Speaker and Chairman of Fair Committee, Ratan Chakraborty said, because of other important scheduled engagements Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha will not be able to inaugurate the Kharchi Puja festival. Instead, Minister Ramapada Jamatia will be inaugurating the seven day long auspicious Kharchi Puja festival in Khayerpur. Besides a number of Cabinet ministers and MP’s will remain as chief guests on the occasion. He added the fair is going to be organized after two years of Covid-19 pandemic and the organizers are expecting a record gathering of devotees.

The Speaker added this year about 1500 participants are going to take part in various cultural activities. Moreover, on the day of closing ceremony various talented and disabled personalities are going to be awarded with prize money.

Other than these arrangements have been made for 24*7 ambulance, team of health care staff including doctors, permanent fire brigade and food safety van to check upon the food items sold in shops during the fair days.

Talking about security and traffic arrangements Speaker Ratan Chakraborty said, “A watch tower has been set up, naka points have been increased along with adequate security arrangements”.
