Agartala, Feb 20 (PIB): Nagpur University topped the both men and women categories in the University Yoga Competition under the Khelo India University Games Astalakshmi. In the event, the Tripura University team bagged the runner-up in the women's category of the University Yoga Competition that ended at Agartala on Tuesday.

The three-day event beginning on 18th February was organised at Netaji Subhas Regional Coaching Centre (NSRCC) at Agartala.
 
While presenting prizes in the closing ceremony, Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha thanked the Yoga demonstrators and officials of all the visiting University teams. Dr Saha said Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken Yoga to the world and as a result, the entire world community is benefiting from Yoga.
 
In the event, a total of eight university teams participated in the men's category. In that competition, Nagpur University bagged the first position, the second position went to Lovely University, Jalandhar and Dev Sanskrit University, Haridwar bagged the third position.

In the women’s event category, of the participating seven universities, Nagpur University’s women team ranked 1st, while Tripura Central University secured the 2nd and Calcutta University’s women team took the third position. 

An official said, a total of 16 Universities from across the country participated in the event and showcased their indomitable spirit.

Minister for Sports Tinku Roy, Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation Dipak Majumder and representatives of Khelo India were also present in the closing ceremony.
