Agartala Feb 02: While the ruling BJP is banking on ‘development’, the opposition political parties in Tripura are determined to oust the Saffron Party from power.
Aiming defeat of BJP in the ensuing polls, the opposition Left Front and Congress came to a mutual understanding and shared seats for fighting the 60-member Tripura Legislative assembly elections.
Reports of chaos between CPIM and Congress in terms of seat sharing agreement were on fire since few days. However, to fight for the ‘larger cause’ both the parties in a meeting on Wednesday night finally resolved the issues and decides to withdraw candidates that were placed by CPIM and Congress in extra seats other than the seat sharing agreement of 47-13.
With this implemented, the fight in Badharghat assembly seat is going to be a 2-way fight between BJP candidate Mina Rani Sarkar and Left-Congress backed Forward Bloc candidate Partha Ranjan Sarkar.
Rajkumar Sarkar, Congress candidate nominated from Badharghat assembly seat has withdrawn his nomination and Trinamool Congress or any other regional or political party has not put up any candidate for the seat.
Thursday, Forward Bloc candidate Partha Ranjan Sarkar conducted extensive campaigning in Ichabazar area under Badharghat assembly constituency.
Exuding confidence of victory with huge margin of votes, Sarkar said, “People are frustrated with BJP-led governance. None of the promises made to the people were fulfilled in these 5 years instead a situation of terror, violence crime and corruption was established in the state where people lost the democratic rights”.
“Ignoring all sorts of fear, people of Badharghat will reach their respective booths and cast vote to establish democracy, rule of law and peace in the state”, he added.
Late BJP MLA Dilip Sarkar’s sister Mina Rani Sarkar also took part in door-to-door campaign in Badharghat area
