Agartala, June 29: The Left front committee of the opposition CPI-M party demanded compensation for the poll violence victims across the state and announced to stage a protest against the alleged incident of poll violence, attacks and vandalism.
Addressing a press conference in the party office on Wednesday, the Left front convenor Narayan Kar informed that a delegation of the Left front committee met with the Chief Secretary on Wednesday at his office chamber and tabled a memorandum containing three-key demands.
The Left delegation apprised the Chief secretary of the terror and intimidations that was let loose by the BJP miscreants during the by-elections, which began before the polling and lasted till the day of poll results and even after, he alleged.
He said that the delegation demanded the CS to direct the police authority to conduct suo-moto investigations in each and every incident of attacks, irrespective of FIR lodged or not and take stringent measures against the offenders.
The Left delegation also demanded compensation for the loss of properties, expenses incurred in treatment, and for physical impairment under ‘Tripura Victim Compensation Scheme 2018’ to all the fit cases of the victims. The memorandum of the Left delegation attached the lists of 147 cases of attacks and violence.
The Left leader said that the delegation demanded the CS to arrange local level all party meetings condemning the attacks and urge for peace.
On the other hand, the CPI-M state secretary Jitendra Choudhury on Wednesday announced that the Left front will stage a protest at Agartala on July 2 next against the barbaric incident of attacks and vandalisms.
“Through this protest we want to let the country know that in the name of Saab Ka Saath, Saad Ka Vikas and Saab Ka Biswas, how the BJP is snatching the democratic rights of the people of this state by not letting them vote in elections,” he said.
