Agartala Jan 22: The Agartala Press Club has recently become a hotbed of controversy and unrest, with incidents that have left the journalist community in turmoil while the atmosphere is charged with accusations and counter-accusations.

According to the details, on Tuesday after a press conference held by the Assembly of Journalists, an organization representing journalists and media persons at the Agartala Press Club concluded, the leadership of the Assembly of Journalists remained in the room for some discussion.

It is alleged that during this time, the caretaker of the Agartala Press Club locked the door, trapping the leadership inside. This incident escalated tensions, leading to allegations that some leaders of the Assembly of Journalists vandalized the Press Club in response.

The secretary of the Press Club reported the incident at the WhatsApp group, stating that the management committee had decided to take action against two leaders of the Assembly of Journalists, who are also members of the Agartala Press Club, for their alleged vandalism and misbehaviour with the caretaker. This decision sparked further outrage, with the Assembly of Journalists' leadership issuing counter-allegations and protests.

In a press conference held on Wednesday, Journalist Sanit Debroy, a leader of the Assembly of Journalists, condemned the incident and demanded the resignation of the president and secretary of the Agartala Press Club during a press conference.

This call for resignation has added fuel to the fire, intensifying the atmosphere of unrest as the Press Club elections approach.
