Kanchanpur, June 27: In a tragic incident at least three persons died due to electrocution at Tankipara of Kanchanpur sub-division in Tripura on Monday evening.  The incident took place when a lorry traveling on Kanpwi-Agartala road came in contact with a high-voltage live electric wire. 

There were two lorries that were carrying timber logs from Kanpwi.  As the first lorry reached the spot—about four kms after Sabual it touched the high-transmission electric line that was dangling dangerously. 

High-voltage passed through the lorry and on spot three persons- Awaj Ali (34) from Rowa of Jalebasa, Hannan Mia (41) from Padmabil of Dharmanagar and Amar Das(35) of Dharmanagar got electrocuited. Awaj Ali and Hannan Mia were drivers of the lorry.  

Sources said, locals had earlier lodged complaints of the hanging live wire to the concerned department but no step was taken –that ultimately resulted in the unfortunate death of three persons.
