Kailashahar, Jan 14: Kailashahar Women’s Police Station achieved a significant breakthrough by arresting the prime accused in the gang rape of a 13-year-old girl from Chennai.
The accused, 25-year-old Turab Ali, was brought back to Kailashahar on January 13 by a police team led by OC Ripita Bhattacharjee.
It was learnt that the incident took place on January 8, 2024, when Turab Ali and two others kidnapped and gang-raped the minor in a secluded area of Manu Valley Panchayat. While the other two accused, Tafazzul Ali and Fuyez Ali, were arrested earlier, Turab Ali had fled to Chennai.
After a year-long investigation, police tracked Turab Ali to Chennai using mobile tracking and arrested him late on Monday night .
Turab Ali was pronounced before Kailashahar Court on Tuesday. The judge sent him to judicial custody and instructed the investigating officer to submit the case diary by January 16 next.
