Agartala, Nov 06: The leader of opposition Manik Sarkar Sunday said that there is a need to dethrone the ruling BJP from power so as to bring normalcy in Tripura. He said, “The BJP which is gradually losing people’s trust is now on a spree to restructure its organisation in a new way to remain in power.”
Manik Sarkar was addressing a state convention of the leather workers here at Agartala Bhanu Ghosh Smriti Bhawan on Sunday.
He said, “This is high time that people of this state who are frustrated with the misrule of the BJP need to voice out hard and dethrone this government from power.” He said that all walks of life in this state, especially the minorities and the leather workers are largely deprived from their rights under the rule of BJP.
“At a time when the previous Left front government was working to enhance the livelihood of the leather workers along with the rest of the rural population, the BJP during its four and half years of its tenure had worked opposite to the Left,” Sarkar said, adding that presently the leather workers hardly could earn their livelihood in this present situation.
Addressing the gathering of leather workers on Sunday Sarkar said, “Though there have been lot of discussion about the present situation prevailing in the state, but there has been finding to get out of this complex situation. So, what we need to do is that, the leather workers should come in large number despite all odd and voice against such situation of deprivation.”
In a separate programme here at Agartala Town Hall, the CPI-M politburo member and also the leader of All India Kissan Sabha (AIKS) Hannan Mollah on Sunday slammed the Modi-led government at the centre and alleged, “The Modi government at the centre has brought a huge crisis for the farmers, who are in spree committing suicide.”
He said, “Today the farmers of this country are being deprived from their land and farming due to the anti-farmer policy as the Modi government is on a spree to hand over the farmers’ land with the capitalists in the name of development of agriculture sector. We have seen that this capitalist government has avoided the farmers on their policy, which is completely based on the peripheries of the agriculture sector including production, profit, market value and others, whereas the farmers which are to make production, are not kept in the policy.”
“Now a days loans are being provided to the agro-industry from the farmers’ loan, whereas the genuine farmers are being deprived from their loans,” he said, adding that tt is very unfortunate that since independence no government has introduced policy in favour of the farmers. He however said that the All India Kissan Sabha has been fighting for the farmers’ right.
