Massive fire guts 2 unit of industry; TIDCL officials assess loss

Agartala, June 16: A massive fire broke out in the industrial area in Dukli on Saturday night and gutted at least two factory units, incurring a loss of around Rs 60 lakhs.
The incident took place on Saturday night at around 11:30 pm after the fire broke out. Alarmed by the incident, fire engine crews immediately rushed to the incident and brought the fire under control after a long hour. The fire could not spread to the other units except gutting at least two factory units.
The chairman of the Tripura Industrial Development Corporation Limited (TIDCL) Nabadal Banik along with other officials reached the industry and assessed the condition.
During his visit, the chairman informed that adequate quantity of food items being produced in the 2 units of the industry were damaged in the fire incident. He said that the food items including puffed rice and other similar products are being exported to other states from this industry apart from meeting the local requirement.
The Chairman assured of required assistance to the factory owner, who incurred loss out of the fire incident. He said that necessary action will be taken from the end of TIDCL after a proper assessment.
The Chairman also praised the role of the locals and factory labours and said that due to the collaborative effort of the locals, factory employees and labours including the fire engine crews, the fire could be brought under control before it spread to the other units.
