Agartala Feb 19: MB Tilla Bazar, one of the busiest markets in the state capital, is on the verge of a significant transformation.
The Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) has devised a plan to modernize the market and reconstruct it in a scientific manner. A substantial budget of Rs 1.75 crores has been allocated for this project, and the renovation work has already commenced according to the plan.
Agartala Municipal Corporation Mayor, Dipak Majumdar, inspected the ongoing activities in the market on Wednesday.
He emphasized that the market is being developed with a modern and scientific approach, which will benefit the traders in the long run. As part of the modernization process, 28 new stalls will be distributed to the old 28 traders from the new shed.
Despite the progress, a significant challenge remains: tribal men and women from distant areas frequently visit the market to sell vegetables on both sides of the road.
Additionally, the presence of the Arundhati Nagar godown in the area leads to a constant movement of lorries carrying goods, posing a risk of accidents. The new market shed is expected to address these issues and provide a safer environment for both traders and customers.
The modernization work is projected to be completed by next April, bringing a new era of development and safety to MB Tila Bazar, informed the Mayor.
AMC Commissioner Sailesh Kumar Yadav along with local Corporators and other officials accompanied the Mayor during his visit.
