Agartala, Sept 26: Union Minister of State for Rural Development Sadhvi Niranjan Jyoti on Tuesday said Tripura received Rs. 8,351 crore under MGNREGA since Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister in 2014.
Addressing a press conference at the conference hall of the West Tripura District Magistrate’s office, the union minister said, the state had received a total of Rs. 4,558 crore under MGNREGA between 2006 and 2013-14. A total of 1,04,970 houses were constructed under Indira Awaas Yojana during the same period.
The fund allocation for Tripura under MGNREGA had almost doubled—Rs. 8,351 crore since 2014, when Narendra Modi became the Prime Minister. Besides, 2,94,911 houses were constructed in the state over the past nine years, the union minister said.
Along with the housing facility, the poor section had also received free gas connection, toilet and drinking water connection, she said and also mentioned about the fund allocation for Tripura under Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.
Speaking to the media, she said, the country has been marching ahead in the path of development under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi following which the north-eastern states including Tripura also witnessed huge progress.
The union minister said, around 90 percent of the funds allocated under MGNREGA has been spent in Tripura. She thanked Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha for this.
Special Secretary to Rural Development department Sandeep R. Rathod and West Tripura District Magistrate Debapriya Bardhan were also present in the press conference.
