A minor girl who went on missing from Kalyanpur in Khowai district four days ago was found dead in a mysterious condition on Tuesday.

The minor girl, daughter of a daily wage labourer, had gone missing from her home at Nayek Basti of Babu Para in Paschim Kunjaban ADC village under Kalyanpur police station on Friday last.

Soon after the incident came to light, a missing diary was lodged at the local police station. On Monday, a team of police led by SP Khowai Bhanupada Chakraborty carried out a search operation along with dog squad but the minor girl couldn’t be traced.

Finally, body of the missing girl was recovered from a jungle at Kumar Sardar Para, 1 km away from her residence.

The incident triggered huge sensation among the local people. Kalyanpur police already initiated a probe; the cause of death is yet to be ascertained. Addl. SP, Khowai- Amitabha Paul, SDPO Teliamura Sonacharan Jamatia, OC Kalyanpur Subhrangshu Bhattacharjee along with a forensic team visited the spot.

After preliminary investigation, the OC Kalyanpur suspected that the minor girl might have been murdered. He, however, said the autopsy and forensic reports are yet to come.
