Kalyanpur Jan 11: In a significant move towards urban development, Kalyanpur MLA Pinaki Das Choudhury has proposed the declaration of Kalyanpur as a Nagar Panchayat during the sixth session of the 13th Tripura Legislative Assembly.
This proposal aims to merge Madhya Kalyanpur Gram Panchayat and Kalyanpur Gram Panchayat into a single Nagar Panchayat.
MLA Pinaki Das Chowdhury highlighted the transformative journey of Kalyanpur, stating, “Once upon a time, Kalyanpur was in complete darkness. Very few people knew the name of this area. But with the help of the state government and local initiatives, today Kalyanpur has come a long way on the path of development. However, there is still a lot of work to be done. If converted into a Nagar Panchayat, the civic infrastructure of Kalyanpur will improve and the locals will be able to enjoy modern amenities.”
The conversion into a Nagar Panchayat promises several benefits for the local residents, including improved roads, access to pure drinking water, uninterrupted power supply, sanitation facilities, and other essential civic services.
Additionally, the proposal envisions the development of improved housing projects, establishment of commercial centres, and advancements in the health and education sectors.
Meanwhile, the proposal has received positive feedback from the state's Urban Development Minister and the Chief Minister.
The Chief Minister assured that the proposal would be reviewed in detail, with a final decision to be announced in the session on January 15.
The local residents have expressed their happiness and optimism regarding this decision, hopeful for future development.
A resident remarked, "Earlier no one had heard of Kalyanpur, but now we are dreaming of development. If it is converted into a Nagar Panchayat, our quality of life will improve further."
This initiative is expected to not only propel Kalyanpur forward on the path of development but also set a new direction for the overall development of Tripura.
