Minister of State for Tourism, Petroleum and Natural Gas, Suresh Gopi, arrived Tripura on Tuesday for a significant3-day state visit.
His visit aims to strengthen ties between the central government and the northeastern state of Tripura, focusing on tourism development and other key areas.
Upon his arrival at Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport, MOs Suresh Gopi received a warm welcome from the Tourism Department of the State Government. The Director of Tourism Department and other officials were present to greet him.
Following the reception, MoS Gopi proceeded to the State Guest House, where he engaged in a productive meeting with the State Tourism Department.
State Minister for Tourism, Sushanta Chowdhury hosted the meeting at the conference hall of the State Guest House, emphasizing collaboration for the growth of Tripura’s tourism sector.
During the meeting, the MoS for Tourism, Petroleum and Natural Gas received detailed briefings on ongoing developmental projects under the Department of Tourism, Government of Tripura and the Tripura Tourism Development Corporation Limited.
The day’s discussions centered around key issues and future plans to enhance tourism infrastructure and promote the state’s unique attractions.
Addressing the press, MoS Gopi highlighted the need for improvement in various sectors within the state of Tripura.
Drawing a parallel with Kerala’s successful tourism industry, he emphasized the potential for growth in Tripura.
He said, “The central government led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched various schemes aimed at enhancing education, infrastructure, and governance. These initiatives are expected to contribute significantly to Tripura’s progress”.
Acknowledging the Prime Minister’s dedication, he emphasized that efforts are underway to address the state’s challenges comprehensively.
The MoS for Tourism Department also underscored the importance of tourism for Tripura.
“Focus on the tourism sector can yield positive results that would help in boosting the economy”, he said.
Later in the day, Gopi explored the cultural heritage of Tripura. He visited the Tripura State Museum at Ujjayanta Palace, immersing himself in the rich history and art of the region.
Additionally, he inspected the Indo-Bangla border check post, in Akhaura highlighting the strategic importance of the state’s frontier.
The Mos’s visit underscores the commitment to fostering growth, cultural exchange, and cooperation between the central government and Tripura. As the state continues to evolve, education, infrastructure,and the welfare of farmers and unorganized workers remain critical areas of focus. The visit serves as a bridge for meaningful collaboration and progress.
