Much-awaited 'Agartala Science City' set for opening on Jan 4

Agartala, Jan 02: Newly-constructed Agartala Science City is all set for inauguration on January 4 next.
Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha will inaugurate the much-awaited project in presence of other dignitaries including Deputy Chief Minister Jishnu Dev Varma, Jail Minister Ram Prasad Paul and MLA Mimi Majumder.
Built at Siddhi Ashram area in Badharghat assembly constituency, the Agartala Science City is going to be a major attraction for the tourists. Besides, it will also have an important role in encouraging the students towards science matters.
The funding for the project sanctioned during the Left regime was stopped following various reasons. After the formation of the BJP-IPFT government in 2018, the project was revived with sincere efforts.
Finally, the much-awaited project has been given the final shape and is now ready for opening.
Chief Secretary J.K. Sinha, Director General of National Council pf Science Museums under the Ministry of Culture- Arijit Dutta Choudhury, Principal Secretary of Science Technology and Environment department- K.S. Sethi, Secretary of PWD Abhishek Singh and Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation- Dipak Majumder will also join the inaugural ceremony.
According to official sources, the Agartala Science City will have a 3D planetarium, Science For Fun and various other exhibits highlighting the use of science in daily life.
