Agartala, Jan 12: Along with other parts of the country, Tripura too celebrated the 163rd birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda as National Youth Day through various programmes on Sunday.
In Agartala, several programmes were organized to pay tributes to Swami Vivekananda. The programmes were marked by enthusiasm.
Governor Indrasena Reddy Nallu, who joined the National Youth Day celebration at Ramakrishna Mission School in Viveknagar, Agartala, urged the youth to preserve Indian values, culture, and traditions.
He emphasized the critical role of young people in shaping the nation’s future.
The Governor paid homage to Swami Vivekananda by offering floral tributes to his statue on the school premises.
In his speech, he highlighted that Swami Vivekananda remains an enduring source of inspiration for Indian youth as a philosopher, thinker, and social reformer.
He encouraged the younger generation to stay informed about current events and contribute to societal welfare through selfless service.
During the event, the Governor presented awards to winners of various inter-school competitions held as part of the celebrations.
Swami Subhakarananda Maharaj delivered the welcome address, while retired Justice Swapan Chandra Das, former Chairperson of the Tripura Human Rights Commission, and the Director of the Skill Development Department, also shared their insights.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks by the vice-principal of the Ramakrishna Mission School, Swami Buddhirapananda Maharaj.
Similar programmes commemorating the National Youth Day were organized in various other parts of the state including Kalyanpur, Sonamura, Dharmanagar, Charilam, Udaipur, Khowai, Teliamura and Gandacherra.
