Charilam Sept 04: Aiming to provide proper nutrition to mothers and children and to ensure a healthy future, seventh national nutrition month is being observed at all the districts of the state under the initiative of Social Welfare and Social Education Department, Govt. of Tripura.
Wednesday, a similar program was held at the Harish Nagar Kajaria Community Hall. The event saw the distribution of nutritional packages to the mothers present.
Key officials in attendance included Uttam Das from the Social Welfare and Social Education Department, Additional District Magistrate Subrata Majumdar, Bishalgarh Sub-Divisional Magistrate Rakesh Chakraborty, and CDPO Soumen Chowdhury, who served as the Chief Guest.
Notably, National Nutrition Month, initiated in 2018, focuses on ensuring the good health of mothers, children, and adolescents through behavioural interventions. This year’s program aims to increase awareness about the prevention of anaemia among these groups.
Uttam Das, official from the SW and SE Department, highlighted that the weight and height of mothers, children, and adolescents are being measured at Anganwadi Centres, and supplementary nutrition is being provided.
Additionally, “Poshan Bhi Padhai Bhi” program is being conducted, and improved services are being offered through the use of technology, he said.
