Sonamura, Jan 01: The first day of 2025 brought a good number of tourists to Neermahal, one of the key tourist destinations of Tripura.
Tourists from across the state, mostly picnic parties, thronged the spot since morning.
According to Rudrasagar Udvastu Matsajibi Samabay Samity, over 3,720 tourists visited Neermahal by 5 pm, generating Rs.
1,85,700 in revenue from motor boat fees. Meanwhile, Rajghat saw a crowd of over 5000 people—some of them enjoyed picnic.
Speaking to the media, Pabitra Kumar Das, president of the Samity, expressed gratitude for the overwhelming response.
“We are doing our best to ensure the tourists have a safe and enjoyable experience. Our focus is on crowd management and preventing any untoward incidents,” he said.
The unprecedented turnout is attributed to the success of “Promo Fest 2024,” a tourism promotional series organized by the state government. The event, held recently at Rajghat, was the second in a series. These initiatives have sparked renewed interest in Tripura’s tourism hotspots, he added.
Security arrangements were tight, with a coordinated effort between the Cooperative Society and Melaghar Police to ensure the safety of visitors. The policemen patrolled the area from morning till evening, and local residents provided additional support to maintain order and uphold the site’s reputation.
With the sun set over Rudrasagar, tourists departed with cherished memories.
