Agartala, June 22: NIT Agartala has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with IIT Hyderabad on Tuesday last to strengthen the academics and research work in Science and Technology.
An interactive session followed by signing of MOU with IIT Hyderabad was held. The program was organised in the virtual classroom of NIT Agartala. Prof. B.S. Murty, Director of IIT Hyderabad, and Prof. Saptarshi Majumdar, Dean, Academics of IIT Hyderabad were present during the session.
Prof. Harish Kumar Sharma, Director of NIT Agartala and Prof. Prasun Ckaraborty, chairman, Alumni Affairs and Institutional Relations of NIT Agartala represented the institute.
The HoD(s) from the respective departments presented the diverse activities conducted/organised by their department. Students, research scholars and faculty members of the institute participated in the interactive session sharing their views and ideas.
The Director of IIT Hyderabad addressed the students regarding benefit of the MOU. The Director, NIT Agartala expressed the need of sharing knowledge of joint research activities efficiently for the benefit of the students and faculty members.
While discussing the research related matter with the HoDs and faculty members, both the Director pressed to establish a platform to achieve excellence in terms of academics, research, exchange of faculty members, joint supervision of Ph.D. scholars, joint research project, infrastructure and human resource for the betterment of educational systems.
Besides, both the institutes have agreed to jointly conduct conference, workshop, short term courses, access to laboratory, library and other supporting facilities. Now, B Tech students of NIT Agartala can directly enter the Ph.D program at IIT Hyderabad. This MOU will support the innovation, skill development, and entrepreneurship activities too.
The Directors of NIT Agartala and IIT Hyderabad completed the formal procedure of signing the MOU in the presence of others.
