Agartala, Sept 14: Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, during an event in Agartala on Saturday, highlighted the crucial need for comprehensive training of sports talents to unlock their full potential.
There is no dearth of talent in sports here in Tripura. We are steadily improving infrastructure to support these talents, and with the right training, they will undoubtedly achieve great success and bring pride to the state, Dr. Saha remarked during his address.
He emphasized the role of rigorous practice and physical fitness in the success of players, suggesting the integration of Yoga and elements of gymnastics into their training routines to boost overall performance.
The Chief Minister was speaking at a felicitation and award ceremony hosted by the Tripura Cricket Association (TCA) at Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, where he encouraged the association's officials to aim for national and international recognition, stating that developing the sports sector should be their primary focus.
Dr. Saha also highlighted the state's ongoing efforts to enhance sports infrastructure. He pointed to the development of an international-standard stadium at Narsinghgarh, which, despite facing some logistical challenges, is progressing.
He acknowledged the limited space for vehicle movement as a key issue and shared that directions had been given to the District Magistrate and relevant authorities to resolve the matter. If required, additional land would be acquired to facilitate proper arrangements around the stadium, he said.
The event saw the participation of Minister for Sports and Youth Affairs Tinku Roy, former Indian cricketer Dilip Vengsarkar, IPL chairman Arun Singh Dhumal, and TCA president Tapan Lodh.
