Teliamura, Dec 28: Teliamura police arrested one individual over the allegation of spreading personal, objectionable images of young women and blackmailing them. Despite the arrest, the police's inaction in the investigation has caused widespread anger.
According to a written complaint, personal photos and videos of several young women and housewives from Teliamura were circulating on social media in recent days.
According to the victims, Teliamura police remained inactive for many days even after reporting the incidents. They also alleged that the police made no progress in identifying the source of the viral videos.
Frustrated with the police's response, the local youths took matters into their own hands and traced the origin to a computer shop, Studio Supreme, located at Ampti Chowmuhani.
The shop employee, Nirmal Sutradhar, allegedly used the opportunity to secretly save personal and objectionable photos from customers' phones and later blackmail them. After a young woman’s family discovered the viral images on social media, they approached the police.
However, after several days of no action, the locals, with the help of a computer expert, searched the shop and found numerous inappropriate images on Sutradhar's computer.
Following the discovery, police were informed and Sutradhar was arrested after confessing to his involvement in the crime.
