Dharmanagar Feb 05: With an aim to raise awareness about traffic rules and regulations and put a check on the increasing rate of accidents, awareness camps are held across the state.
Monday, a one- day camp was held at the BMS Hall in North Tripura districts’ Dharmanagar in presence of vehicle drivers and owners.
Although various attempts are made to educate the common people, the effect on them cannot be seen, said North District Superintendent of Police Bhanupada Chakraborty as he addressed the camp.
“In order to save people from accidents, fines are being imposed and licenses are being seized by the traffic department every day. These are being done to save people's lives and not for the profit of the government or the traffic police. However, there is still a tendency among people to evade traffic laws”, he said.
Chakraborty said, “Lives are lost due to carelessness. The vehicle owners must aware their drivers and the drivers also must be cautious while riding the vehicles and abide by the traffic norms”.
BMS North District president Subrata Rudra Pal, Sub-Divisional Police Officer Debashish Saha, Dharmanagar Police Station OC Naru Gopal Deb and others were present in the awareness camp among others.
