Charilam, Aug 05: One person died and at least eight people were injured after a high-voltage live wire snapped and fell on a home at Pal Para of Barjala under Bishramganj Police Station on Friday.
The tragic incident took place when the wire fell down in the house of Subhash Pal; 12 people including the house owner were electrocuted.
Meanwhile, Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) in a press statement said that a committee would be formed by Saturday to probe the incident.
Appropriate action would be taken against those responsible for the incident within next seven days and financial assistance would be extended to the affected family, the press release said.
The house owner was declared dead when he was brought to the hospital. Nine other people from Pal’s home were electrocuted.
The local villagers protested the incident; they staged a blockade on Bishramganj-Agartala road and blamed the Power department’s negligence for the incident. After three hours of protest, the blockade was finally lifted by the villagers.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate, Sepahijala- Viswashree B, SDPO Bishalgarh Rahul Das, Sepahijala Zilla Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta and BJP’s Sepahijala district president Gaurang Bhowmik along with others rushed to the spot soon after the incident.
The SDM Bishalgarh rushed to the primary health center and spoke to the families of the deceased and the injured persons. Two among the injured persons were referred to GB hospital in a critical condition.
Meanwhile, three workers were recently electrocuted to death when they came in contact with a high-voltage live wire at Sabroom. Besides, three people died after being electrocuted at Tankipara of Kanchanpur sub-division on June 27 last when a lorry traveling on Kanpwi-Agartala road came in contact with a high-voltage live electric wire.
