Originality of Manipuris at stake: MLCT

Agartala, April 9: Manipuri Literature Council, Tripura (MLCT) expressed concern over the future of Manipuri culture and language in the State. The Council organised its 59th annual conference at the Student Health Home, Agartala on Sunday morning.
“The Manipuri community in Tripura is facing challenges in the State and struggling to keep its cultural and linguistic originality. The originality of our language is lost when it crossed paths with Bengali”, said the general secretary of MLCT, T H Nilkumar Sinha.
He added, “We are planning, based on ground reality, to re-establish and restore the originality of the indigenous Manipuri language”.
Nine commendable literary works were awarded at the program. Among these, two are from Assam and the remaining seven awardees are from Tripura.
The program was attended by the MP from Manipur, Dr Rajkumar Ranjan Singh and others.
