Agartala, July 31: A group of job aspirants, who cleared written examination for recruitment of Panchayat Executive Officer but didn't get appointment as per the final merit list, sought publication of waiting list.
According to the aspirants, some of the candidates who got offer letter didn't join the service, leaving some posts of Panchayat Executive Officers under the Rural Development (Panchayat) department vacant.
In that case, they demanded that the vacancies be filled up from the left out candidates, who cleared the examination (mains) conducted by the Tripura Public Service Commission (TPSC), on the basis of merit.
They also sought Chief Minister Dr Manik Saha's immediate intervention to address the issue.
The TPSC had issued the notification vide: 06/2021 inviting applications to fill up one post of CDPO, 438 posts of Panchayat Executive Officer and 19 posts of ICDS.
The preliminary examination was held in November, 2022 and the mains were conducted in May, 2023. The results were declared on January 5, this year.
The interview process had started from February, this year and the final merit list was released in the last part of June.
As per the merit list, 438 candidates were recommended for appointment to the post of Panchayat Executive Officer.
The aspirants got to know that some of the candidates who received the offer letter didn't join the service, following which some posts are lying vacant.
In view of the vacant posts, the aspirants sought the Chief Minister's intervention and raised demand for waiting list. They want the vacant posts be filled up by the through the proposed merit list.
They said, the TPSC earlier released waiting list for multiple recruitment drives where such situation arisen.
"There is no point to leave the posts vacant after conducting the examination. The process already took long time since 2021. There are several other candidates who cleared the exam but didn't get position in the final merit list for various reasons. We are hopeful that the Chief Minister will immediately address the matter and take necessary steps to fill up the vacancies by publishing a waiting list," an aspirant said.
