Agartala Aug 04: Actively engaged in duties at various locations of the state, the poll workers on Sunday casted their votes ahead of the three-tier panchayat elections slated to be held on August 08 next.

With polling process underway from 10 :00 am since Sunday morning, Returning Officer Sushanta Dutta of Dukli RD Block mentioned that a total of 222 people filled Form 60 for EDB casting.

This includes 96 poll workers, 69 police officials and security personnel and 57 in others category.

Dutta further informed, “Out of 5 Zilla Parishad seats under Dukli Block, 2 seats are already won uncontested by the ruling BJP and today voting process is being held for only 3 Zilla Parishad seats”.

Also, the poll workers associated with only 4 Gram Pancahayat seats in Kanchanmala are casting their votes on this day as out of 277-gram panchayat seats all have been won uncontested while one remains vacant without any candidate.

15 Panchayat Samiti seats under the Block were also won uncontested by the Bharatiya Janata Party, said the RO.
