Agartala Sept 08: Medical team of Tripura Medical College and Dr B R Ambedkar Hospital successfully performed a critical surgery on a 5-day old baby boy, hailing from Dharmanagar.

Reportedly, the baby, born in a hospital in Assam, was referred to Guwahati due to post-birth complications. However, instead of travelling to Guwahati, the parents transported the newborn to TMC Hapania.

Upon arrival at Tripura Medical College, paediatrician Dr. Aniruddha Basak examined the infant and discovered a significant leak in the baby’s stomach, causing food to accumulate rather than pass through the digestive system. Recognizing the severity of the condition, Dr. Basak immediately performed surgery.

The operation was successful, and the baby is now in stable condition, eating and gaining weight. Dr. Basak expressed relief and satisfaction with the outcome, highlighting the importance of timely medical intervention.
