Sabroom July 14: As per orders of Tripura Government and as per NGT guidelines two buckets were provided to each house under Sabroom Nagar Panchayat on Thursday. The initiative has been taken up by the Nagar Panchayat to keep the city clean and recycle the waste by keeping eco-friendly waste and plastic or other non-biodegradable waste in those buckets. A team of 5 people from the city administration moved door to door and trained the common people on how to properly store household waste. Apart from this, the city administration specifically requested the city residents to keep the city free of garbage by Sub-Divisional Magistrate Devdas Debbarma.

Notably, in line with the clarion call given by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, to phase out single use plastic items by 2022, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India notified the Plastic Waste Management Amendment Rules, 2021, on 12 August 2021. Carrying forward the spirit of ‘Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava’, a defining step to curb pollution caused by littered and unmanaged plastic waste is being taken up by the state along with the entire country.
