Police working round the clock to ensure peaceful election in Unakoti

Kailasahar, April 22: At a time when the state of Tripura along with other parts are bracing for the second phase of the Lok Sabha election, scheduled to be held on April 26 next in East Tripura parliamentary Constituency, the police of Unakoti district of the state are working round the clock to ensure violence-free election.
The District Superintendent of Police – Kanta Jahangir on Monday chaired a press conference here at Kailasahar Kamrangabari Police Line and said that a total of 12 Naka points are actively functioning in the entire district with 26 police sectors.
So far 450 TSR jawans along with 45 companies of Central Paramilitary Forces have arrived in the district, he said, adding that a total of 93 companies of central paramilitary jawans will be deployed in Unakoti.
He said the law and order situation is normal in the district and no complaint from the political parties have been received so far. Contraband items including Ganja, Phensydyl etc. have been seized having a market value of around Rs. 1 crore, he told reporters.
The police officer further said that the police is working round the clock to ensure peaceful voting on April 26 next, where voters facing difficulties in casting their vote due to unwanted incidents can immediately contact the police control room by dialing – 6909356385 number. He said that there are a total of 225 polling stations in Unakoti district.
Additional Superintendent of Police V Darlong, Kailashahar Sub-Divisional Police Officer Jayant Karmakar and Kumarghat Sub-Divisional Police Officer Kamal Debbarma were present in the press conference.
